Here’s what you need to know
to ensure a smooth and compliant entry:

General Requirments
  • Minimum Age: Pets must be at least 4 months old.

  • Microchip: All pets must be microchipped for identification.

  • Vaccinations:

  • Dogs: Rabies, Distemper, Leptospirosis, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus

  • Cats: Rabies, Cat Flu (FHV & FCV), and Feline Panleukopenia (Cat Enteritis)

Documentation Needed
  • Import Permit: Issued by the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (valid for 30 days).

  • Veterinary Health Certificate: Must be issued by the official government vet in the exporting country..

Banned Breeds
  • The following breeds, including any crossbreeds, are not allowed entry into the UAE:

  • Pit Bull types (all varieties)

  • Japanese Tosa (Tosa Inu)

  • Dogo Argentino (Argentinian Mastiff)

  • Fila Brasileiro (Brazilian Mastiff)

  • Wolf-dog hybrids

  • American Staffordshire Terrier

Pre-Travel Health Care
  • Anti-parasitic treatment (against ticks and worms) must be administered within 14 days before departure.

Rabies Titer Test
  • Required for pets coming from non-listed countries (see list below).

  • The test must be done at least 90 days before travel, and no more than 12 months prior.

  • Countries Exempt from the Rabies Titer Test

  • Pets coming from these low-risk countries do not require the rabies blood test:
    Australia, Austria, Andorra, Aruba, Barbados, Bahrain, Belgium, Comoros, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, French Polynesia, Falkland Islands, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Liechtenstein, Mauritius, Malta, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Portugal, Qatar, Singapore, San Marino, Seychelles, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Vanuatu

Travel Method
  • All pets must enter the UAE as manifested cargo—not in-cabin or as excess baggage.
